Lucy – 6 month old Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier whose owner could not take the time to walk and exercise her

Lucy – 6 month old Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier whose owner could not take the time to walk and exercise her.

Lucy is a sweet little girl whose owner surrendered this 6 month old beagle/Jack Russell Terrier to a kill shelter because they could not take the time to walk, exercise, and train the puppy.  Lucy is only 6 months old and very sweet and affectionate, great with children, and fine with other dogs as well as with cats.

Tragically, the shelter is a kill facility in rural West Virginia where she will have very little time at the shelter (Augusta, WV).  The shelter has less than a 5% local adoption rate.  Transport help is available in our region, and a donor would be open to sponsoring transport beyond our region.

Cody – 9 month old lab mix with Treeing Walker Coonhound – Very intelligent and athletic – very little time at kill shelter to find home

Cody is a very intelligent and athletic 9 month old mix of lab and Treeing Walker Coonhound whose owner could not keep him because he could clear his fence.  He honestly did not intend to be bad and always returned when called but is curious and has a healthy pair of legs on him.

Cody is only 9 months old and very sweet and affectionate, fine with children and fine with other dogs.  Cody is housetrained, knows commands, and deserves to find a loving home.

Tragically, the shelter is a kill facility in rural West Virginia where he will have very little time at the shelter (Augusta, WV).  The shelter has less than a 5% local adoption rate.  Transport help is available in our region, and a donor would be open to sponsoring transport beyond our region.

Norski – 4 year old Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier Mix boy whose owners surrendered to a kill shelter because the neighborhood kids were picking on him.

Norski is a sweet little boy whose owners surrendered this 4 year old beagle/Jack Russell Terrier to a kill shelter because the neighborhood kids were picking on the poor little guy.  Norski is only 4 years old and very sweet and affectionate, fine with children (even though they pick on him), fine with other dogs as well as with cats.  Norski is housetrained, knows commands, and deserves to find a loving home where he can be his own gentle self.

Tragically, the shelter is a kill facility in rural West Virginia where he will have very little time at the shelter (Augusta, WV).  The shelter has less than a 5% local adoption rate.  Transport help is available in our region, and a donor would be open to sponsoring transport beyond our region.

Sponsor and transport help available to rescue that saves 2 year old Shar Pei Pit Bull Terrier mix from Augusta, WV Humane Society shelter

Sponsor and transport help available to rescue that saves 2 year old Shar Pei Pit Bull Terrier mix from Augusta, WV Humane Society shelter.

Luke is an absolutely gorgeous 2 yr old mix of Shar pei and Pit Bull Terrier that has made himself at home at the shelter despite being bounced around twice prior to arriving there.  Sadly, Luke’s first owner lost his home and gave him up to a friend who now can also no longer keep him for financial reasons.  Despite all that, Luke warms up very quickly to new people and has all the makings of a great family pet.

Luke is already housetrained and seems to know some commands.  He is friendly and affectionate with people and children, and he has been fine with other dogs and not shown any interest in cats.  He is quiet but welcomes playing and exercise time.  He would love to be in a full family that could give him attention but would do just as a well with an individual or a couple.

The volunteer who transports for the shelter met Luke last weekend and was impressed with how quickly he warmed up to her and husband (who is like 6ft plus).  “Luke came out in the play yard and just wandered around doing his business.  My husband, Neil, and I just casually spoke with him and slowly extended our hands.  Luke just seemed rather bored, smelled us a little bit and then wandered off again.  On his way by again, I said, Hey Luke, and patted my chest.  I know we don't want to encourage our babies to jump but I wanted to see what he would do.  He put his paws on my chest, I gave him a great big hug, and he gave me all kinds of great angel kisses.  This was within 5 minutes of meeting him.”

Tragically, the shelter is a kill facility in rural West Virginia where he will have very little time at the shelter (Augusta, WV).  The shelter has less than a 5% local adoption rate.  Transport help is available in our region, and a donor would be open to sponsoring transport beyond our region.

Please help Luke….Luke has a sponsor that will pay his vetting and shelter costs so that a rescue can focus on finding him a home without incurring more costs.
